This is an excellent way of getting across a large amount of information quickly and quietly, unless there’s some giggles to be had…
This goes to print in The Guardian newspaper both online and in press.
The target audience for these pieces tend to be people that are interested in such gossip; because they change the subject each week, for instance, this week it was the Queen - HRH Lizzy two, most likely to coincide with her 60th jubilee celebrations. The message for these pieces is quite simple really, “here’s a lot of facts and figures for you to read when you’ve got a couple of minutes to spare, actually we’ll throw in some random trivia for you as well, Enjoy!”
As a way of communicating with the mass public, it actually does very well because it communicates the messages quickly and effectively. The piece itself doesn’t even pressure you to read it, it’s just there if you want it rather than going READ ME! READ ME!
